BROWN-EYEZ CAUGHT UP WITH RAPPER AKS TO HEAR HIS THOUGHTS ON THE RIOTS!

“I think a vast majority of what’s now ensued or been covered are individuals who have jumped on the bandwagon and used this opportunity to engage in criminal behaviour.
But that doesn’t take away from those (and there are those) who feel like there is apparent social depravity, a class system thats imbalanced and systematic inequality throughout society.
The tragic killing of Mark Duggan was a catalyst for something that had been brewing for a while, but I can’t understand why individuals who have a problem with the establishment are not focussing their anger at the establishment .
So it’s quite obvious that for a lot this is a question on and out criminality, despite whatever cause they say they hide behind.
It’s naive to think that this is without cause, but it’s also naive to think everybody involved has got a cause.
Maybe I’m a prophet: “Honestly, no love for authority, that’s why we see the robberies in DVD Quality” – @AKSonline – House Called Home
TUNE OF THE WEEK! AKS ‘HOUSE CALLED HOME’!

AKS “House Called Home” from Okayplayer on Vimeo.
The talented South London emcee AKS, unveils the official video for “House Called Home”, taken from his debut EP release The Bus Stop. Making use of some strategically placed censorship bars; the Robin Bharaj directed visuals see AKS immersed in a world of people without an identity.
The Chemo-produced track explores AKS’ take on attitudes towards immigration, his identity as a British-Born African and a sense of belonging.

Flowing effortlessly over a resounding kick drum, AKS uses his trademark lyrical musings to paint a socially aware picture of life through the eyes of a young member of UK’s ethnic minorities, emotively expressing the displacement and seclusion felt. This track is bound to provoke some conversations revisiting the immigration issue on both sides of the fence – and it definitely sets the tone for the type of material found on The Bus Stop EP.
AKS spits some lyrical seriousness!
“This ain’t where I come from, I was just born here”
“I’m living life like Scarface, stuck between a rock and a hard place!”
” I know lots about misery and torture, I don’t really know about my history and culture”
I luv the beat, lyrics and the video!

BROWN-EYEZ CAUGHT UP WITH RAPPER AKS AT ‘THE BUS STOP’!

BROWN-EYEZ caught up with AKS, the man behind the epic EP ‘The Bus Stop’!
Why did you name your E.P. “The Bus Stop”?
I thought it was funny how I could take a simple concept like waiting at the bus stop and make it a metaphor for the lives we live. The title of the E.P. reflects a state of mind that I think a lot of people are in. We all want to get to some sort of destination, be that success, happiness…whatever your goal in life is; we all have these places we want to get to. And I just feel like a lot of us are willing to wait for some person, or act of fortune that’s going to get us there rather than investing time & effort into bringing our own dreams to reality. I had this quote stuck in my head:
“Success is not a place at which one arrives, but rather the spirit with which one undertakes and continues the journey.”

I’m inviting people along for the ride, the E.P. is just the beginning of my journey, some people will meet me at the bus stop, others will find me elsewhere but what’s important is that I share my growth with you.
What is your favourite song on the E.P. and why?
Every song on the E.P. comes from a different place in my heart and triggers a different memory or emotion. That’s just because of what was going on in my life during the time I wrote it. But “Truth Be Told” is my favourite track. To me it’s a beautiful rendition of what it is to be an artist. “I do what I love and I love what I do” that’s FREEDOM, isn’t it? You just got to look around at industry and you can ascertain what the driving force is nowadays. It feels like everybody’s governed by what the latest “IN” sound is, so we change who we are and what we make to fit the standard. But then there’s the train of thought that if no two people are the same, being yourself makes you unique. BE YOU!! That’s the TRUTH!

The Bus Stop is a strong effort, showcasing that AKS is a lyricist NOT a beat rapper! In the words of Young Guru, Roc Nation speaking on UK hip-hop he said ‘AKS is the future!’
BROWN-EYEZ RATING: 9/10
The Bus Stop is AKS at his best! He has ‘bars for days’!
