SHARDINAY ATTACKED AT AWARD AFTER PARTY!
Fresh details have emerged over the cause of the well-documented fracas which took place at the official MOBO Awards after-party at Liverpool’s Hilton Hotel. The overcrowded party spiralled out of control when an altercation between Youtube sensation Shardinay King, 30, and an unknown female reveller turned into a violent brawl.
The music scene had dubbed Shardinay the ‘Most Hated Artist’ after her music video for her song ‘Oh Boy’ became a viral online smash due to negative comments about her video. The negative attention also caused Shardinay to become ‘trending topic’ on Twitter after thousands tweeted their opinions on the artist. Shardinay had attended the official MOBO after-party with her rapper boyfriend Ezee and had been recognised while on the red carpet, causing some onlookers to question her validity to take part at the prestigious event.
It was during Professor Green’s performance when Shardinay was attacked by the female reveller, dragging Shardinay backwards by her hair. The assailant then bee-lined for Ezee and began to dance provocatively. As Shardinay approached the troublemaker, she was ambushed by seven female allies of the attacker who apparently also shared a negative view on the viral video. Shardinay quickly attempted to jump onto the stage in order to escape and seek help. Video footage taken by a partygoer shows Shardinay being hounded by the female onto the stage without regard for the performance or the venue’s security. It was at this point that Professor Green stormed off the stage, and bottles began to be hurled across the dancefloor.
Professor Green, referring to being stabbed in the neck with a broken bottle in May 2009, says of the incident “After what happened to me I didn’t want to take any chances with someone jumping up on stage, so I just got out of there”. The initial upset caused by the ruckus spread confusion amongst the crowd which quickly flared into violence after a crowd of 40-strong individuals charged onto the dancefloor. During the stampede Shardinay found that her handbag and shoes were missing. She then re-entered the stage and addressed the crowd via the PA system in order to retrieve her lost belongings. It was at this time she apparently repeated her tagline ‘Oh Boy’, which due to her video has become a popular phrase on Facebook to describe a woeful situation. A curteous member of the crowd returned the items to her.
Merseyside Police acted quickly alongside the hotel’s security team to shut down the event at 1am. Sources claim the partygoers were previously upset due to gatecrashers invading the event while paying ticket-holders were refused entry due to the venue being at full capacity. Onlookers believed the altercation involving Shardinay was an isolated incident but became a trigger for trouble-makers already frustrated by the ticketing situation.
Oh dear Shardinay! Yes you are an awful singer, but that is no reason for you to be physically attacked! Looks like you might need some full time body guards!
Video footage of the incident coming soon!
