Lisa Maffia has said criticism levelled at Alesha Dixon when she joined Strictly Come Dancing was “cruel”.

The So Solid Crew singer said: “She was fabulous – the criticism was cruel but everyone who is good has their critics, so it’s a compliment.”

Lisa reckons the backlash Alesha, who went out with So Solid’s Harvey, faced was simply because people “fear change”.

However, Lisa said she’d jump at the chance to appear on Strictly.

“I’m a dare devil,” she confessed. “I grew up with loads of guys and I would be the most competitive dancer they’ve ever seen. I never want to lose at anything I do.”

“I’d absolutely love to do Strictly. I was the best dancer in the group (So Solid Crew) of course.”

Lisa is also hooked on the X Factor and is backing “soulful” Danyl and “rocker” Jamie to win.

Last year’s X Factor winner Alexandra Burke is going head-to-head with her mentor Cheryl Cole in the singles charts this week, but Lisa thinks the Girls Aloud singer has the edge.

“I actually prefer Cheryl’s song but I think Alexandra Burke has a better voice – it’s tough but I’ll go for Cheryl.”
