Juliette Giscombe claims she was treated like a ‘skivvy’ and bosses ‘bullied and patronised’ her at their flagship Park Lane hotel in central London.

The telephonist claims they repeatedly overlooked her in favour of younger, less experienced white workers she had trained.

She alleges her bosses did not consider her ‘worth investing in’, adding: ‘They did invest in staff, providing they were white.’

The 57-year-old says her treatment at the hands of Hilton managers made her so ill she had to quit her job in October last year.

She is suing Hilton International Hotels for race and age discrimination and constructive dismissal. She is seeking £60,000 for loss of earnings and hurt feelings.

Jamaican-born mother-of-two Mrs Giscombe, of Streatham, south-west London, says she raised two formal grievance complaints alleging racism, which were rejected.

Hilton denies the allegations, saying: ‘Hilton is dedicated to being an equal opportunities employer and we place a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion.’

The case at Central London Employment Tribunal was adjourned until November.
